Print Shop in Iraq Faces Possible Closure by Iraqi Government

Alive in Baghdad, a weekly news podcast produced by Iraqi journalists has a story on Dar Al-Nahrain, or “The House of Mesopotamia,” a well-known printing and publishing house in Baghdad.

According to the report, Dar Al-Nahrain employs 900 Iraqi employees who print currency, passports, and other offical state documents including Al-Sabah, Iraq’s state-run newspaper. Facing extreme adversity since the fall of Saddam’s regime in which many employees have lost their life traveling to work, print house employees are now facing the possibility of becoming unemployed as the Iraqi government looks to shutdown the shop.
